Make a Non-Tuned Instrument

docsgeneralvideohowtotitle

  • Add a recording you’ve made, for example some drums
  • Use ‘Drag to cut into beats’ to make slices for each drum beat
  • Use the ARROW keys to step through the slices and fine tune the edit points
  • Use SHIFT-click to select all the slices
  • Drag the top corners to add some fades
  • Once imported, tweak the audio gadget with + and set Sound Type to Instrument
  • Go to the Options page and turn on Row Mapping
  • Use + over the gadget to open the Slice Mapper
  • Drag the slices to different button rows, to define which buttons should play which sound
  • Dreams chooses randomly from the sounds in the button row, so you probably want similar sounds on a row, e.g. all the snare drums in one row and so on.

The Dreams User Guide is a work-in-progress. Keep an eye out for updates as we add more learning resources and articles over time.
