The Cast

This is the place to get the lowdown on all the key movers, shakers, and players of Art's Dream. And to find out what's up with that funky blue guy...

Art

Art

Art

The main man, and an excellent double bass player. If anything, he thinks he’s too good. Following an explosion of ego, he decides to leave the band and set forth on his own musical career. But life comes at you fast, and before long he finds himself homeless and alone. With nowhere else to turn, Art retreats to his dreams to reflect on his life and figure out his next steps.

Quote: "I'm Art, and I play the double bass. The greatest of all instruments."

Likes: Sci-fi, robots, adorable dragons

Dislikes: Playing second fiddle, being emotionally available, nightmare creatures invading his dreams

Laila

Laila

Laila

The lead singer in the band, and Art’s childhood friend. Laila’s pitch-perfect voice and musical talent have helped the band to flourish, but without her best friend Art by her side, she’s finding it hard to bring her all to the stage.

Quote: "Hey, it's Laila. So let me guess, you're having some sort of epiphany. Did you eat some weird cheese again?"

Likes: Art, nostalgia and the good old days

Dislikes: People leaving the band unexpectedly

Herb

Herb

Herb

Herb plays the trumpet in the band, and has known Art and Laila for a very long time. Given that he plays such a noisy instrument, it's no surprise that he's also a very loud person. Could you maybe whisper a bit more, Herb, we're trying to sleep!

Quote: "I'm just saying that if your brain was gunpowder, you wouldn't even be able to blow your nose!"

Likes: Trumpets

Dislikes: Gunpowder

Tessa

Tessa

Tessa

Tessa is the backup singer in the band, and took Art and Laila in when they first arrived in America. As a result, she's like a mother to the two of them, and spends a lot of her time looking out for them.

Quote: "Why you got your pants on backwards? How you gonna pee?"

Likes: Art and Laila

Dislikes: Having your pants on backwards

Seb

Seb

Seb

Seb is the band's drummer, and he loves to bash away on anything he can use as a drum. This can include actual drums, bins, or people's heads. Probably.

Quote: "There's nothing more inspiring than a cheese sandwich".

Likes: Cheese sandwiches

Dislikes: T-rex's (their arms are too small to play the drums)

Hector

Hector

Hector

A mysterious blue-skinned man who taunts and haunts Art across his dreams. Hosts an incredibly powerful moustache plastered across his face. It’s so big that you could probably carry stuff in there. Like a pencil. Or a tuba. Maybe. Probably not, though. No wonder he's won moustache of the year seven years in a row.

Quote: "Tone it down!"

Likes: Epic facial hair, musical numbers

Dislikes: People who forget their train tickets

Thornbeak

Thornbeak

Thornbeak

The big bad. A villain dreamt up by Art and Laila in their childhood, Thornbeak returns to wreak havoc on Art’s life during this difficult time. But what does this creature want? And why has it come back now, when Art is at his lowest?

Quote: "Squawk" (in an angry voice)

Likes: GIANT BEAKS

Dislikes: Art being happy

Frances

Frances

Frances

The stuffed bear with the MASSIVE HAMMER. Yeah, that’s right, a hammer. Needless to say, subtlety is not Frances' strong suit. Frances was one of Art and Laila’s childhood toys, representing their creativity, play and imagination. She returns to help Art recapture his childhood innocence.

Quote: She doesn't speak, she's a teddy bear. Get real.

Likes: Smashing things

Dislikes: Blue-headed enemies

Foxy

Foxy

Foxy

The stuffed fox with projectile weaponry. Foxy is another beloved childhood toy that Art and Laila used to play with. Absolutely precious (we just want to give him a big hug!) and complete with extra cool eyepatch.

Quote: Also doesn't speak. Because he's a fox. A stuffed fox.

Likes: Shooting things

Dislikes: Thornbeak

Lancewing

Lancewing

Lancewing

Lancewing is Art and Laila’s noble dragon steed from their childhood. Lancewing was often the hero of their youthful adventures, but this time it’s Lancewing who is in need of rescue...

Quote: "ROOOOAAAARRRR!"

Likes: Flying

Dislikes: Being imprisoned (one would assume)

D-BUG

D-BUG

D-BUG

On top of being possibly the most adorable little robot buddy ever conceived, D-BUG is also the hero of a classic sci-fi movie from Art’s childhood. If you look closely, you can see adverts for the D-BUG movie throughout your adventure in Art’s Dream.

Quote: "Beep"

Likes: Consistent supplies of electricity

Dislikes: Cheap batteries

ELE-D

ELE-D

ELE-D

Okay, so we know we said that D-BUG was probably the most adorable robot ever, but that prize could just as easily go to our pal ELE-D. Taking the form of a little computerised elephant, ELE-D also has the special ability to suck in projectiles and fire them at enemies and obstructions in the environment. She's da bomb!

Quote: "Beep beep"

Likes: Blowing things up

Dislikes: Jumping

ROOT-R

ROOT-R

ROOT-R

Rounding out the trinity of robots, we have ROOT-R, a giant robot that sparked Art’s imagination to save him and Laila from all sorts of disasters. But now, the creature lies dormant, will it awaken to save them once again?

Quote: "Beep beep beep!"

Likes: Powering down

Dislikes: Early mornings
