Getting to grips with A Long Climb Ago? The latest Mm Original is a fantastically thoughtful puzzle-platforming game, and we're here to share some tips and secrets that will make your experience block-friendly and easy-breezy timey-freezy. In our opinion, Medieval parkour should really be an Olympic sport.
Controls#
Let's start with how you actually play the game. There are two sets of controls, based on what you're interacting with; character controls and block controls. Let's start with the character controls below:
- to move
- to jump
- to freeze/unfreeze
The block controls, on the other hand, are all about how you manipulate the falling blocks to help build your way out of each level:
- or to move block
- to rotate block anti-clockwise
- or to rotate block clockwise
- to freeze/unfreeze
- to use a potion bomb
Top Tips#
Now for a wee bit of advice. The gameplay of A Long Climb Ago comes from a simple concept, but later evolves into a more complex set of situations as you're presented with different blocks and increasing challenges in each level. So, if you're finding it tricky to ascend the tower, take a look at these tips that might just give you the strength to carry on climbing.
- Don't try to do everything at speed. Slotting blocks together neatly can be much more efficient than quickly slamming down blocks in a random pile.
- Make good use of the environment. Think about how you can use floating and tumbling blocks as platforms by freezing them in the air and parkouring across them.
- Structural integrity be damned. You don't always need to build a complete structure to climb somewhere - be inventive!
- Become an architect. Experiment with the placement of the blocks. You can build structures that are both functional and impressive!
