DreamsCom '22 Day 2 - All the News

Holy moly. If you thought that DreamsCom Day 1 was packed with awesomeness, just wait until you see what Day 2 had to offer. Wait, that’s why you’re here? Oh, fair. Let’s get on with it, then, shall we?

Day 2 was all about meeting and chatting with some lovely and dedicated Dreams coMmunity creators. We had the pleasure of speaking with these coMmunity heavyweights, who showed off their work-in-progress Dreams! Here are just a few highlights:

  • Pixel wizard Paulo-Lameiras gave us a fascinating interview all about their creative process and we played their new project, PROTOLAND, which you can try a demo of right now in Dreams!
  • QWOP-esque, motion controlled platformer Spiders Have 4 Legs skittered onto stream courtesy of pierogi-boi. Again, why not have a go at the demo for yourself?
  • We were also treated to a look at Pyjama Kingdom, by VerbalCreative, who also made the Impy-nominated Topher Thebes and the Enchanted Crystal. Pyjama Kingdom is an adorable digital tabletop dungeon crawler, and we all need more of those in our lives, right? Right.

And that's just a small slice of the action. You can check out the amazing coMmunity created trailers submitted to us over on our YouTube Channel(opens in new tab). Go on, get over there.

It's almost as if DreamsCom '22 can't get any better. But would you believe it, we actually have one more day to go, filled with more creator interviews and insights. Don't forget to catch all the excitement from the last day of DreamsCom live, as we'll be streaming our Day 3 coverage over on Twitch(opens in new tab) and TikTok(opens in new tab) from 5PM BST.

If you've got the DreamsCom itch, we're sorry, as there's no known cure. Except to maybe check out our DreamsCom '22 Magazine to find more fun, hilarity, and how to get the most out of this year's DreamsCom!

And don't forget, DreamsCom '22 is going down right now in Dreams, so why not pop down to the show floor try out some demos and get to know some of the coMmunity.

And now, some bonus coMmunity highlights from DreamsCom '22 Day 2. This is only available in English for the time being.

Past Liam, you're an absolute gem. Present Jen taking over now, with some extra Day 2 deets, tweets and treats HOT OFF THE PRESSES. Or whatever the blog equivalent of the presses is.

CoMmunity Reactions#

Another fantastic pre-show, our first coMmunity dev sessions and more show floor fun on Day 2 - plus, it looks like a few of you are discovering our super-secret VIP room...

"IT'S GETTING BETTER AND BETTER! We finished the DreamsCom '22 Tour on stream this afternoon, so many wonderful booths, the white box is just wow and the VIP Secret Room just blew our mind. Just watched the replay of Emei's Art Workshop(opens in new tab) which I found so inspiring!"

Elfiooh

"The VIP room is...truly something else. How soon is soon?"

"I really love the styles used for the DreamsCom '22 showfloor & especially the kickass book, soft '90s vibes! It's obvious this was created by artists who A D O R E videogames!"

Our curation team's selection for Day 2's Demo Of The Day was... Spiders Have 4 Legs, by pierogi-boi and Phreakerz!

Tom loved playing this wonderfully wonky movement-based challenge on yesterday's stream. A fellow Dreams creator - and the developer of Pluto & Saturn - is impressed by the art style, too:

"This looks awesome! Love seeing more stylised games in Dreams, those really manage to pop out of the crowd."

Digi-Sasha

You can download our free DreamsCom '22 magazine to read more about Spiders Have 4 Legs, or catch up with the VOD of our first coMmunity dev session on Twitch(opens in new tab) to see more gameplay and hear an interview with the creator!

A Funny Clip#

Surprise surprise, it's Tom being silly again. Here he is having a fear-based meltdown(opens in new tab) on stream as SOME OF US attempt to do real, serious journalism business. Hard when you've got this chap screaming in your ear. Come on, Tom - it's just a little bit of staggering hell-monster. Lighten up, mate.

Out-Of-Context Quote Of The Day#

"Halfway there, living on a jorts prayer."

Jen Simpkins, Editorial Manager*

(*Look, Tom said it was okay to quote myself.)

See you from 4pm BST today over on Twitch(opens in new tab) for Day 3! Don't miss it!
