Dreams UGC Guidance-All Hallows': The Land of Lost Dreams#

This year's Halloween event, All Hallows': The Land of Lost Dreams, is just over the horizon (and doing some very evil cackling. How worrying.) It's a good time to remind you that we have coMmunity and moderation rules for Dreams creators to follow when DreamShaping. These requirements also extend to all UGC created for in-Dreams events and/or promotions such as All Hallows’ Dreams.

Before you get stuck into making your creations, please read these pointers - they should help streamline the submission process and enable us to showcase as much of your fabulous, freaky Halloween content as possible.

  • Remember, folks: Dreams is PEGI ‘12’ / ESRB ‘T’ / CERO ‘B’ and content in Dreams should be appropriate for these ages. See the respective age ratings board websites for helpful guidance on content suitability for the above ratings.
  • Be mindful that content featuring realistic and/or graphic blood, gore and violence may exceed PEGI 12 and/or internal Mm content criteria and may not be permissible. This may include, but is not necessarily limited to, dismembered/severed bodies, humanoid characters being killed in a realistic way and other such gory details, such as presenting viscera and similar horrific depictions. There is a distinction between realistic human-like corpses and characters with cartoon-like features and the latter is more likely to be acceptable but could still pose a risk depending on its depiction.
  • Be wary of including UGC that glamourises the use of alcohol, tobacco and/or narcotics. By this we mean showing the content in a way that suggests it is desirable to use these substances or it could be interpreted the content encourages the use of substances in some way. For example, a decorative cigarette/alcohol prop may be permissible if they are not labelled, however a player or NPC smoking cigarettes/drinking alcohol and either gaining in-game benefits such as points and/or power boost or presenting the consuming of it as normal would likely not be permissible.
  • Always remember to submit content for inclusion in any Dreams event that has been created by you and is original. If you are unsure whether something is your original content, the safest approach is not to include it within your UGC. Examples of content may include but are not limited to entire games, characters, vehicles, environmental assets such as real world locations and monuments, quotes, literature, music, lyrics, or third-party brand logos and designs.

This is intended as a point of reference only. Note that UGC is reviewed on a case-by-case basis and there may be some occasions where we do not permit UGC in Dreams events. We may update and amend this guidance at any time.

The Dreams User Guide is a work-in-progress. Keep an eye out for updates as we add more learning resources and articles over time.
