Dreamview Weekly Roundup #67
Przepraszamy za niedogodności, ale Molecules wciąż pracują nad przetłumaczeniem tej treści. Sprawdź ponownie wkrótce.
We know what you’re thinking. DreamsCom '22 opens its doors and we expect you to pause your perusing to read a Weekly Roundup? We get (roughly) 52 of those a year. Do you know how many DreamsComs we get per year? One. Reading a Weekly Roundup hardly compares to scouring for secrets, gallivanting through glitches and hanging out with delightful print media pro, Paige. (Really, where do they find these people?)
We see all of you collecting stickers and completing scavenger hunts; we know you’re all completionists deep down. That’s why we’re taking a slightly different approach to the Roundup this week. In the spirit of the convention, we’ve picked out a booth, a stand, a listening booth, a demo and a party track that haven’t been extensively featured in either our magazine or Twitch(otworzy się w nowej zakładce) streams. Therefore, if you want 100% completion on all The Impsider words for this year’s DreamsCom, you’ll simply have to read this Roundup. Don’t worry, we got Paige to proofread it and everything. Did we mention she’s a pro?
Recursion#
by EntropyTamed
Genre: High Score Challenge
Estimated playtime: 10 minutes a day
No wonder that EntropyTamed chose a jellyfish as the protagonist for their latest precision platformer: it looks graceful, has a sting in its tail and is deceptively massive when laid out in front of you. Recursion is the latest in a string of ingenious daily games incorporating the time gadget (we’re still deep in Dorien’s mines), procedurally generating a new infinite obstacle course to hop across each day. Best described as an alien world populated by Bristle Blocks, its setting is atypically gorgeous with its surreal platforms and panoramic scenery. Sightseeing has its benefits too; spot a handy power-up and you can share its co-ordinates with fellow players. Burnt through your allotted five lives? There’s always tomorrow’s course, which will either have you floating towards glory or re-cursing your bad luck.

Berski’s cinema booth#
by berski
Location: Hall 5
Estimated runtime: Looping
Cinephiles around the world will be familiar with this adage: nothing improves a film quite like four cargo trucks lurking in your peripheral vision. By all accounts then, berski’s eclectic booth is up there with some of the finest cinemas we’ve ever visited. For those unfamiliar with their oeuvre, the animator has collected their trilogy of shorts released in Dreams thus far, looping them simultaneously on mounted screens. They’re all meticulously painted, but our favourite remains their homage to 1920s' silent film, starring a Connie variant in charge of a steamboat. Considering how the short resolves, perhaps we should be grateful they didn’t commandeer one of berski’s holographic display vehicles. That is, unless another Connie is waiting in the wings ready to incite truck turmoil. Should we be worried about a multiverse anytime soon?

Bus Stop Bops#
Location: Hall 20
Estimated runtime: 90 seconds
Fancy some lo-fi hip-hop beats to relax/wait for the bus/scream when it dashes past your stop to? We thought you might. LosT (the musical alias for FinitEParadoX) provides a cosy corner in the busy expo space with their ambient listening booth track Bus Stop Bops. Coated in bright orange accents, its design even conjures up slightly unwelcome memories of school buses. Thankfully, the track itself swiftly eases our cringing into chilled bliss. Filtered with a mix of vibrato and distortion effect fields, its minimalist melody crackles with the texture of a stormy downtown stroll. Staccato harps and cellos result in a progression perfect for idling away minutes at a bus stop or convention space; we think CaptainChlorine’s Wrotmoore coach station booth in Hall 39 should have a word.

Music Video: Hacker - Complex [Ryguy's Euphoria Remix]
by Beed28
Playlist: Party Mixtape
Estimated runtime: 3 minutes
Get your glowsticks ready for this hot-ticket gig: a rave on the wobbly wave. Beed28’s bouncy metropolis provides the perfect venue for this energetic electro-house tune; Ryguy’s remix of Hacker_boy_303’s classic club track literally brings this city to life. Composed with DreamsCom in mind, its bright arpeggiated hooks are uplifting - quite literally for the city’s inhabitants launched airborne on the beat. At 130 BPM (that’s bounces per minute, by the way), it’s an ideal inclusion for any afterparty playlist. Even better, if you play this in our fancy Party Mixtape autosurf playlist in the DreamsCom hub, you’ll instantly transition into another euphoric tune. Don’t worry, DreamsCom doesn’t hand out noise complaints.

Hat Stand#
by ike_ball
Location: Hall 32
Estimated playtime: N/A
Fashion is a critical part of any convention trip – just ask any one of our playable characters serving looks around the expo. Praise ike_ball then for their ingenious stand that provides an essential amenity: hats. We’re impressed by this triple offering ranging from a casual baseball cap, a sophisticated trilby hat or for anyone who’s self-conscious they won’t stand out in the crowd, a statement top hat. There’s even pleasant backing music to complete the changing room illusion – admittedly excepting the lack of privacy. Tragically, as soon as we step outside with our voguish headwear, it’s telekinetically pulled back onto the stand, taunting us with its good looks. We know fashion trends have a short lifespan, but this is ridiculous.
