A Roundup on Monday and a Roundup on Friday? In this economy? It’s blogging gone mad.
Whatever next? Cannibal bowling pins? A weird amount of shade thrown at medieval knights? A reference to 2004 chart-topping smash Cha-Cha Slide(откроется в новой вкладке)? Well, yes, actually - all of those things, and more. IT’S BLOGGING GONE MAD!
Bengali#
Estimated playtime: 30 minutes
This is such a brilliant idea for a dream that we’re surprised we haven’t seen it before - but creator MonocledRobot does say that the recent Create update 2.44 was what made it possible. Bengali is a paint-by-numbers game - well, technically, paint by letters, but who’s counting? (Nobody, they’re letters. Wow, our memory is worryingly short these days.) Simply use your imp and the motion controls to select a colour, hover over the space in the picture that contains the corresponding letter, then press a button to fill with rich shades of red and amber. It can be a little fiddly, but there’s a helpful ‘clear’ setting for your brush - and anyway, the precision required is what makes this exercise so peaceful, the image slowly materialising under your influence as community tunes tinkle in the background. Colour us impressed. (Sorry.)

Knight Quest: The Holy Grail#
by akincibey71
Estimated playtime: 2 hours
Here’s a take that would definitely get us cancelled in the 10th century: knights aren’t massively efficient fighters. Big suits of armour? Clunky as heck. Weapons that you actually have to manually swing at people’s heads? Too much effort. A moral code that you have to abide by while fighting, or everybody gets mad at you? Anything that prevents us from giving our opponent a cheeky tickle under the armpit to distract them is, in our book, categorically wack. Even more impressive than the sheer ambition of melee-focused RPG Knight Quest: The Holy Grail, then, is how it actually makes us appreciate what being a cavalier must be like. One of its best tricks is to auto-lock you into one-on-one duels with enemies, each of whom have their own distinct attack patterns and weapon arts; this intensity helps you focus on the tactical games of rock-paper-scissors you’re playing as you swing, dodge and block. The physicality of every move really conveys the feeling of persevering against the weight of metal, the burden of responsibility - these fights may be slow, and tough, but they feel meaningful.

Think I Might Sell Out#
by SaucelessOne
Estimated runtime: 3 mins
What’s the worst thing about being an artist? Apart from inspiration suddenly striking at 3am, explaining what it is you do at family gatherings, and accidentally drinking your own paint water instead of your tea, that is. That’s right: having to make money. SaucelessOne’s bouncy, eclectic and super-funny ode to getting your bag is a delight, all hi-hats, synth bass, glacial pad shots and the usual characterful vocal. The vibe is very much of a creator hyping themselves up about the idea of chasing payment for their works; the joyful energy in the yelp of “And it might be FUN!” right before a chaotic steel drum breakdown could probably single-handedly power our PlayStation for a week. Who needs power cords when you’ve got power chords?

Home#
by Solid1156
Estimated runtime: Looping
When does a shelter become a home? This 2D-but-really-3D structure might look ramshackle, held together by little more than wooden planks, corrugated iron and hope, but it’s clearly important to the group of frontier explorers making their way inside. Inky smears of shadow cut into huge, marshmallowy clouds; frail satellite dishes bolted onto the roof turn hopeful faces towards signals out in space. This place feels like more than just a stop-gap: given the picture window with shutters, the small planter growing on the side, we can understand why artist Solid1156 gave this breathtaking painting the title they did.

HORRIBOWL#
Estimated playtime: 10 mins
Proprietor of the fabulously unhinged PLAYZONE PickleWickle0 returns with a concept that will strike fear into your heart. (Strike? Geddit? Because bowling? Alright, it was just a joke - no need to go spare.) Here’s the situation: you’re in a bowling alley. Bowling is occurring, thanks to your own efforts - great job pressing that button to bowl the ball, by the way. You are all on your own, though, and so it’s a little disconcerting when the pins start to take issue with being knocked over and decide to take their revenge. The result is a horror-sports game in which your determination to put points on the board sits side-by-side with your deep, deep desire not to get eaten whole by the teleporting pin-monster doing the Cha-Cha Slide around the lanes. Hilarious. Terrifying. That’s HORRIBOWL, baby!
