Template scenes and elements have Guides and Auto Guides set up to make creation easier.
Auto Guides#
By default the 2D Platformer template has obey auto guides switched on. All kit elements contain an auto guide with grid snap on and maximum/minimum scale set to 1:1. Some are also set to stay upright, and some have surface snap on, meaning they’ll snap to whatever surface your imp is hovering over while holding them.
Grid Snap#
If you don’t want to use obey auto guides, we highly recommend creating your 2D platformer with grid snap on. The default grid setting is absolutely fine for creating with. We don’t recommend creating without grid snap as it’s very easy to make things slightly offset and end up with an unplayable level, and it takes a lot of time to fix tiny mistakes like this.
Precise Move#
If you really don’t like using grid snap you can use precise move instead, but it can be easy to move an element in an axis you didn't intend, so watch out for that. You also can’t guarantee that all elements will snap together, as precise move allows you to move freely along an axis. We’d recommend it more for decorating a scene than putting together the foundations.
