Dreamview Weekly Roundup #69
¡Vaya! Disculpa las molestias, ¡pero en estos momentos nuestros amigos de “Media Molecule” están dándolo todo para traducir este contenido! Por favor, vuelve por aquí en un ratito.
Time flies, eh? It's now been literal weeks since we explored the sights, sounds, and yes, even the smells of DreamsCom (for all those asking: it's a weird, fragrant combination of BADROBO82's Acid Drink, and Yah_Deh's Dehlicious baked goods booth).
But never fear, lovers of novelty and sniffers of curious scents: another jam-packed edition of the Dreamview Weekly Roundup is here with five new creations that will tease your brain-cells and tickle your nose hairs.
Remixable JRPG Systems Kit#
by Bohalaa
Estimated playtime: N/A
A staple of gaming, the humble JRPG has been around pretty much since the inception of games. (Chess? Go? Never heard of 'em). We've already seen some great examples of the genre made in Dreams, such as Sword of Akaana. But thanks to Bohalaa, it just got easier to Finalise Your Own Fantasies and Kingdomise Your Own Hearts with the Remixable JRPG Systems Kit, a selection of assets and a pre-made turn-based battle system to help you craft your own epic adventures. The kit allows you to play around with the turn-based battle formula, and try it out on the fly to craft the most engaging combat system possible. If you want to see a quick slice of what can be made with the kit, Bohalaa has made a short playable advert for the collection, which truly ticks all the JRPG boxes. The set-up for a lengthy adventure? Check. Flying machines that couldn't possibly exist in the real world? Check. Characters spouting wistful bordering on incomprehensible dialogue? Check check check.

F A R A W A Y#
by sumesest
Estimated playtime: 3 minutes
F A R A W A Y might be the very definition of chill. Audio afficionado sumesest has created a tranquil, calming, and relaxing scene to go alongside their new music track. F A R A W A Y features a stationary train that has come to a halt on the tracks next to some impressive-looking mountains, as the dusk rolls in across the hazy sky. Why has the train stopped? Where was it going? Who is on board? These questions fill your mind as the soothing melody plays whilst dust particles float casually across the scene. The scene only lasts just over 3 minutes, but it has us feeling calmer than we have done in a long time. If you're stressed, give this one a listen.

HeliTaxi#
by atheistsw, arepera, and Zodira
Estimated playtime: 2 hours
With trains always running late in good ol' Blighty, and buses usually packed with sweaty people, taxis really are the pinnacle of public transport. Now you can roleplay the life of a hover-happy cabbie in HeliTaxi. It's perhaps not quite as nice as riding in the back of the taxi, but it does make for a better game experience. A kind of spiritual successor to the classic Crazy Taxi, HeliTaxi tasks you with transporting a bunch of passengers across the futuristic city of Van Alder to their destinations. Everyone has their own story and journey in mind, but perhaps the best part is that it's all fully voice acted by members of the Dreams coMmunity. As a result, the voice acting is varied and unique. What's also interesting is that each passenger wants to be ferried around in a different way, with some preople preferring a smooth ride, and others wanting to get to their destination as fast as possible. How you get them to their destination on time is up to you, but one thing's for sure: this'll be a wild ride.

Croissant Clown#
by BroMcBerger
Estimated playtime: 2 minutes
You enter the dimly lit room. A flickering lightbulb swings threateningly overhead as your eyes adjust to the moderate gloom. And then you see it. A solitary clown puppet sits behind a table. Where did the puppet come from? You don't know. Why is it here? You have no idea. As you watch in mounting disbelief, the clown unhinges its jaws like a snake, and sways lazily from side to side as it attempt to swallow the projectile pastry baked goods being tossed at its face. WHERE ARE THE CROISSANTS COMING FROM? There is no answer to your desperate pleas. You turn and leave, willing yourself to erase the distubring memories now so deeply etched into your mind. But this is your fate. You cannot forget what you saw. You are now one with the Croissant Clown.

Celestial Journey-A Pirate Story Spin-off#
by ChevalierBore, mouflarr56, patof-103 and julio_grr
Estimated playtime: 2 hours
The Pirate Story games are a perennial favourite amongst the Dreams coMmunity - so much so that its developers have started branching out into spin-offs, such as the excellent Ronin's Path. This latest experiment, true to form, doesn't take place in the high seas, but in the high... skies? Well, all skies are technically high up, we suppose. Regardless, this latest ChevalierBore outing takes the Pirate Story formula into the heavens with a whole new ship, world, and set of quirky characters to interact with. Pilot your airship amongst the floating islands to track down the lost treasure, and enjoy the stunning graphics and lighting on display. It's a sight to behold as you navigate between the various floating islands, completing missions for the various characters to unlock more information about the booty you're after. It's also no surprise that your fellow pirate is a seagull, as these bothersome birds are notorious for the most vile theft and plunder. (RIP to our chips at the beach last week. We hardly knew ye.)
