Dreamview Weekly Roundup #15
唉呦!真是抱歉,我們 Molecule 團隊還在努力編織這部分內容的翻譯!請稍後再來瞧瞧。
Like a moth to a flame, you find yourself irresistibly, inexplicably drawn to the Dreamview Weekly Roundup once again. Did you get lost on your way to the moon, perhaps?(在新分頁開啟) Nothing to be embarrassed about: it happens to the best of us.
Sure, this is article is not a glowing, floating rock made of cheese. We understand that might be disappointing. But the brilliant light emitting from this week’s collection of Dreams creations has brought you here, so why not pull up a chair (or whatever the moth equivalent is. A mushroom?) and gaze a little while longer? We’ve got five great recommendations for things you can enjoy in Dreams this weekend, alongside whatever your current plans are. Eating people’s clothes and flying out of empty wallets, you say? You absolute stinker. Moths will be moths, we suppose!
Glory Arsenal#
by Lampazzu
For some videogame fans, hearing the word ‘Soulslike’ is enough to have them break out in a cold sweat. Others, however, delight in throwing themselves at a brutal challenge. If you’re in the latter camp, then you’ll want to try out Glory Arsenal, an accomplished ode to Bloodborne that casts you as a spear-wielding, shotgun-toting warrior and pits you against some truly terrifying bosses (Abnormal Imp will haunt our nightmares). The control scheme takes direction from Miyazaki’s games, with light and heavy attacks on the right bumpers; the array of attack options - miniguns and flamethrowers among them - take time to execute with precision, but once you’re accustomed, the combo possibilities are extensive. There are hours of masochistic entertainment here, including environmental puzzles and even a 2D space shooter section. Just don’t come crawling back to us if you end up throwing your controller out of a window.

Dough!!!#
by ryan47
Three exclamation marks, and it earns every single one of them. Ryan47’s sculpt offers a disconcerting new perspective on what we thought was a genteel practice: kneading dough. (The more we think about it, the weirder it is: how we batter about the poor substance, which changes shape and expands in a strangely alive kind of way.) Here, we see the true horror of it laid bare. The baker’s expression is unmoved, raising her rolling pin to deliver a smack; the dough is frantic, enveloping her other arm in its mass to try to protect itself, with one of the panicked bubbles rising to its satiny surface just barely concealing a second eye. We’ll never eat bread again. (Okay, well, not for a little bit, at least.)

Out to Launch#
by ghostfruit64
Recalling the catapult Flash games of old (rest in peace, sweet prince(在新分頁開啟)), Out To Launch combines trial-and-error grape-slinging with a compulsive progression system. Your juicy little projectile has no chance of making it to the finish line unaided: you’ll have to launch as far from the spoon catapult as you can on your early attempts, dipping through clouds and aligning yourself with bouncy trampolines and mushrooms, to collect valuable currency. In the shop that appears after each try, you can spend coins on upgrades such as Launch Power, a Coin Magnet or even a Glider that can be used once per turn. Our personal favourite? Jump Power, purely because the jump - a limited-use tool that can nudge your grape onwards to springy objects - makes what is possibly the best sound ever committed to videogames. Bwee!

Life Is Beautiful#
by Zypher755
This year’s ‘Hidden Gem Creator’ Impy award-winner reveals yet more depths of talent with their latest musical composition. Life Is Beautiful makes wonderful use of orchestral strings, bells and horns to create a sweeping wall of sound that plays with dynamics to tug at the heartstrings: after the rush of the epic mid-section, the muted ending feels all the more intimate. Add a choir, and this is a track that wouldn’t feel out of place on Takeshi Furukawa’s original score for The Last Guardian.

LGBTQ+ Pride Month CoMmunity Challenge Jam
by orionvalentine, venwave, PudaZuka, The_Tenia and IMpotantMINK
If there’s one thing the Dream coMmunity is good at - okay, actually, there are many, many things the Dreams coMmunity is good at. But one of the loveliest things is their propensity to celebrate each other. Hence the LGBTQ+ Pride Month CoMmunity Challenge Jam, in which orionvalentine and friend invite their fellow dreamers to create elements that will be included in an in-game Pride parade. There are handy templates included for a float, a flag or a banner. It looks like you’re not limited to those specific ideas, however, and that you can make almost any kind of element you like and it’ll be included - which is very much in the spirit of the whole thing, really. The deadline for submissions is June 29th, so make sure you don’t miss out on being a part of the festivities. We’ll be there with rainbows on.
