This year's event introduces 3 different templates for you to work with. These guidelines apply to all of the templates, and will explicitly let you know when they apply to a specific template. The Listening Booth also has a specific section you can find at the end to help you wire your track in it.

Pick one of the templates from the collection, remix it and start creating your exhibit! You may only submit one type of exhibit out of the three, so pick one that fits what you want to show.

Keep in mind that the content of your exhibit must be yours. That means you must not use other people’s IP. It must also adhere to our CoMmunity Guidelines.

Exhibit Basics#

Thermometers limits for your exhibit depends on the template you’ll be choosing.

Exhibit Dimensions#

The exhibit dimensions also depend on the template you’re using. All the templates contain a hidden ruler gadget that lets you know its boundaries. To make the ruler visible, select Tools/Hide and Unhide All. You must leave the ruler gadget in your booth, but you may hide it again using the Hide tool.

Anything you create for your exhibit must be placed entirely within these limits! Nothing you place in your exhibit can extend beyond the limits provided. This includes any object which moves outside of your exhibit using logic, animation, or other means. Paintings should be kept inside of the exhibit even when they're tweaked to duplicates, so settings such as Around Camera are off-limits. Gadget zones, such as those of trigger zones, must be kept inside the limits of the exhibit too.

Puppet#

The puppet we will be using is a custom puppet made for the event. We’re providing a test scene for you to run around your exhibit with the custom puppet and camera configuration we’ll be using.

Logic and Gadgets#

Your exhibit shouldn't contain logic which alters the gameplay of the scene it will be placed in - so gadgets such as checkpoints, prize bubbles, global settings, variables, and variable modifiers are not permitted. Your exhibit may not contain health managers or health modifiers as they may affect the puppet. Emitters and destroyers are also not permitted due to the potential impact of duplicated objects on the frame rate and the exhibit itself. Finally, your exhibit shouldn’t contain doorways.

You may use rumblers in your exhibit if you choose, but they must only be activated when the puppet is within the boundaries of your exhibit, and you should only use rumblers where it makes sense for them to be activated. Lastly, you may use force appliers in your exhibit, and you may use them to affect the puppet - but they may not force the puppet out of the exhibit at high speeds. They may also not move the puppet vertically beyond the limits shown by the hidden ruler gadget.

Lights and Lighting#

The number of light gadgets you can use in your booth is limited, please refer to the table below to find how many you can include in your booth.

You may add a maximum of 40% glow to paintings or sculpts within your booth, as long as the emitted light doesn't extend beyond the boundaries of the booth. To make this simpler (assuming you don't want your sculpt to emit light), you can tweak the glowing sculpt or painting and set the Emit Light From Glow setting to 'Never' on sculpts, or disable the Emit Light From Glow setting on paintings.

If you want to test your scene with the event lighting, you can use the test scene provided in the collection. Please do not add any gadgets that will affect the visuals of entire scenes, including Sun & Sky gadgets and Grade & Effects gadgets!

Text and Audio#

You may add text displayers to your booth! Please ensure, however, that the text is set to be In Scene (you can find this in the Settings tab). The Always On Top setting may not be enabled, however you may use the Face Camera setting as long as the text is not able to rotate outside of the booth dimensions.

Audio placed in your booth must only be heard within the dimensions of your booth. You may approach this by adding a trigger zone which enables the audio within your booth, or you may use 3D Panning on every sound and instrument contained within your booth so it is not audible outside. Feel free to experiment using extra booths placed parallel to your booth in the Test scene. If you can rotate the camera while in another booth and still hear audio from another booth, then you need to tweak the 3D Panning settings on the sounds and instruments located within the booth. Furthermore, please ensure that the sounds in your booth are not too loud - consider using the tracks contained within Mm Music for loudness comparison, and tweak your volume levels accordingly.

Listening Booth Guidelines#

You may have noticed the Listening Booth is quite different from the standard Booth and Stand. It comes up bundled with some logic and a premade visualizer to showcase your music track.

Here’s some guidelines on how to add your own music track to the booth.

  • Start by remixing the Listening booth Template from the collection
  • Scope in the Listening Booth by pressing L1 + X, and open the Listening Booth Microchip
  • There are powered off Text Gadgets in the microchip to help you add your track:
    1. Write the track and artist name or names in the text gadget called “Track and Artist Name”
    2. Open the Microchip labeled “Place your track Here”, and create your music in the existing timeline, or replace it with your own timeline.
    3. Make sure the Restart Timeline, Playback Speed and Playhead position nodes are wired to their corresponding input and outputs.

In addition to adding your music in the Listening Booth, you may:

  • Remove or edit the rotating sign above the listening booth
  • Remove or edit the visualizer and visualizer screen
  • Paint and change the coating style and effects of the base sculpt
  • Remove or add paint as long as they stay in the boundaries defined by the hidden ruler Gadget
  • Add sculpts as long as they stay in the in the boundaries defined by the hidden ruler Gadget and do not prevent access to the headphones
  • Add your own logic to create your own visualizer and effects

You may not:

  • Edit the existing base sculpt of the listening booth
  • Edit the headphones and headphones hanger sculpt
  • Edit the existing frozen logic and gadgets

Test Scene#

As mentioned in the Guidelines, we’re providing a test scene in the collection. Feel free to stamp your booth and have a run around with the puppet present in the scene.

This scene lighting and grade configuration is close to what we’ll use in the event.

Finally, make sure to test your booth in various configurations, such as different orientations and against walls on the back or on the side.
