Dreamview Weekly Roundup #20

Ooops! Scusa per l'inconveniente. Le nostre Molecole stanno lavorando alacremente alla traduzione di questi contenuti! Torna presto.

Pen and paper. Chalk and cheese. The words Dreamview and Weekly Roundup. Some things are just meant to be together. Who would we be to disrupt destiny? One small change to the script could threaten to tear this fateful Friday union apart. We wouldn’t dare risk that. We wouldn’t even consider changing the writer of these words for one week. Nope. Never.

Hold on one second readers - we’re getting some disturbance all of a sudden on our end. You’re kidding? Jacob actually managed to escape our maximum security clover circle? He’s threatening to reveal our secret experiments unless we let him write another batch of recommendations from the Dreamiverse? So it’s come to this. Oh dear.

You heard the man. He wants to wax lyrical about five more unmissable creations within Dreams to our loyal, lovely readership? Hand him the typewriter. It’s the only way.

Glow City#

by Kcmikuru_Bot-Lvl1

Choosing only one of mikuru’s infectiously cheery house tracks proves near impossible. One glance at their output reveals a talented maestro fluent in future bass melodies, prolific and polished to a tee. Glow City is a particular highlight, sweetly remixed into kaytanna22’s candy-coated Recipe Jam entry Quest for Cake. Combining a succession of catchy chiptune rising scales with excellent mixing results in a delectable concoction irresistible to the ear. Against an impeccable drum backing, mikuru’s signature style shines in this track, all but guaranteed to plant a beaming grin on your face with every passing second.

Lucky Bounce#

by oooDORIENooo

oooDORIENooo’s masterful mini-games have created quite the impression on both us and the coMmunity, carving out an identity for fiendishly cruel but compulsive scoreboard chasers. Their latest is an ode to boardwalk coin-op machines – the ones that swallowed all your pocket money whilst mercilessly giving you nothing in return. Lucky Bounce challenges players to launch a series of balls from a rotating catapult, fixed over several holes promising either points or pain. A single bout of unfortunate timing could reset your entire score, yet the potential of doubling it equally lies in wait. 'Good luck' is an understatement.

something about Intrusion#

by Nivi-Artist

Already established for their versatility, Nivi-Artist’s latest piece is an astonishingly creepy, distinct piece loaded with atmosphere and style. Depicting a huddle of figures crowding around a giant invading hand, Nivi-Artist appears to be drawing upon the disquieting aesthetics of artists such as Junji Ito. Emphasised by the crisp hand-drawn monochromatic style, there’s plentiful attention given to deep shadows and perspective, heightening the unsettling nature of the scene. Adding to their eclectic portfolio of portraits and landscapes, something about Intrusion is another fleck in Nivi-Artist’s palette of skills, whilst giving us a safe space to face our fears of inexplicably enormous hands. We swear it’s a real thing.

Super Mega Pink Coin#

by DoublePounch

A lonely figure rests on a bench. A sole lamppost illuminates the cobbled ground beneath them as synth chords reverberate into the distance. This is only the main menu for DoublePounch’s Super Mega Pink Coin, yet it speaks volumes regarding the multifaceted talents of its creator. Quietly tinkering with art and assets up until now, this adventure game represents the culmination of their Dreams ambitions. Set in a surreal cityscape, our enigmatic hero finds themselves in possession of the eponymous coin, venturing on a quest to discover its purpose. A fluid movement system and environmental combat impress, but it’s DoublePounch’s dazzling deployment of 2D animation through both cinematics and gameplay that skyrockets our anticipation to levels as mega as its namesake.

Vortisurf 2#

by ElizabethVitae

Anyone hoping to catch some waves this summer need look no further; Vortisurf is back. Sure, these waves are a little more metallic and menacing than those found in the ocean, but no aquatic thrill can compare to plummeting through a tunnel filled with cutout shapes at Mach 1 speeds. ElizabethVitae’s sequel is an unrelenting feral beast of a game, infused with a thumping techno soundtrack and enough eye-popping lighting to upstage a Chemical Brothers concert. Featuring five modes of play, the question isn’t _if _you’ll die, it’s how. Upsurge allows players to accelerate through multiple zones at once whilst Nightmare kicks proceedings off at the blistering edge of difficulty, propelling you at hundreds of miles an hour. We've heard of DreamSurfing - we invented it, actually - but this is something else entirely.
