Dreamview Weekly Roundup #22
Ooops! Scusa per l'inconveniente. Le nostre Molecole stanno lavorando alacremente alla traduzione di questi contenuti! Torna presto.
Friday is here once again, and we are in the midst of DREAMSCOM FEVER. Yes, the coMmunity convention made in Dreams kicked off this week, and let’s be honest: you’re probably all too busy running around the show floor, riding on trains and getting up to no good to worry about reading the Dreamview Weekly Roundup.
Still, for those of you clever enough to still be tuned in, we have a special treat this week: a DreamsCom edition, featuring five fantastic DreamsCom booths that are well worth visiting, and that weren’t mentioned in The Impsider’s DreamsCom companion magazine! There’s just that much good stuff at DreamsCom ‘21. Too much for the single brain-in-a-jar shared by The Impsider team, which is handed over to the next recipient on Sundays each week, alongside some homemade banana bread.
Anyway, make sure to head to the show floor to check these out!
Karts ‘n Crafts#
by PieceOfCraft
Location: Hall 16
You’ll find PieceOfCraft’s name attached to many of the most impressive creations in the Dreamiverse - Ghost Geezers, The Invocation and The Infernal Hunt among them. Unsurprisingly, then, the artist’s DreamsCom ‘21 booth has caused a huge amount of buzz on the show floor. Promoting upcoming party racer Karts ‘n Crafts, it features a photo op with a beautifully animated mascot, a giant ant driving a kart (and occasionally, hilariously getting hit in the head by a flying anvil) and a brilliant item dispenser that, when used, randomly showcases one of the many items you’ll be using to waylay other racers when Kart n’ Crafts is released in Dreams. Watch your six, Mario Kart.

Imp Tycoon#
by duckenomics
Location: Hall 19
Ah, clicker games. An ultra-satisfying way to scratch at the compulsive itches that haunt our brains? Or a cynical satire of human behaviour that laughs at our very impulses? Either way, duckenomics’ Imp Tycoon is wonderfully done, having you jump on a large button to generate imps. The more imps you earn, the more upgrades (and upgrades for your upgrades) you can buy to… well, earn more imps. Just when you think you’ve had your fill, you notice the array of tempting purchasable items you can earn to further decorate the booth - including a TV and a really rather sophisticated charcuterie board - to enjoy while you… erm, keep jumping forever. Capitalism is stupid, isn’t it.

Zed Exodus Danger Seeker#
by TRIX9
Location: Hall 9
This upcoming Dreams release gives us big Joe Danger and Trials vibes, casting you as the stubby stuntman and challenging you to jump and flip your bike across a variety of stages to beat the clock. You’ll want to stop by the booth to try your hand (or, er, butt?) at the bucking bike, staying on for as long as possible to set a high score while the Zed Exodus Danger Seeker plays.

Hide and Seek with Topher Thebes#
Location: Hall 6
Charming platformer Topher Thebes and The Enchanted Crystal is a bit of a Dreams classic, and the booth promoting the game - which you can play right now, by the way - is a real standout on this year’s show floor. Start the minigame, and Topher will hide in the foliage around the booth, including in some harder-to-reach locations; manage to reach every one, and you’ll be treated to a surprise. If you’ve got little ones, this is a must-visit.

Oiseaux Sans Ciel#
by DoublePounch
Location: Hall 24
So many creators have experimented with form in their booths this year - shoutouts also to Elfiooh’s amazing audio-based storytelling in Hall 35, and gabri87rock’s walkable graphic novel in Hall 22 - but DoublePounch’s 3D trailer really caught our eye. It’s like watching live theatre, as the hero shivers behind cover and then slides over the top as a hail of bullets rains down. It’s a promotion for Oiseaux Sans Ciel (Birds Without Sky, for the non-francophones among us) that, from the looks of DoublePounch’s latest gameplay update(si apre in una nuova scheda), is set to be a fantastically fluid, rocket boots-based third-person shooter set in a shadowy world - and it’s out THIS YEAR. We can hardly wait - this is truly one to watch.
