Dreamview Weekly Roundup #58

Ooops! Scusa per l'inconveniente. Le nostre Molecole stanno lavorando alacremente alla traduzione di questi contenuti! Torna presto.

Thursday is dead. Friday reigns supreme once again! That’s right, the Weekly Roundup has returned to its regularly scheduled Friday slot. Can you hear the cheers from the audience? The raucous applause? Oh wait, that’s just the sound of us yelling and clapping incoherently. Well, someone has to be our biggest fans.

Speaking of applause and celebration, we all got together for the first time in two years last week for an Mm away day. That’s right, we escaped the office and briefly became free-range Molecules. Many of us even touched grass. However, a new week means it's back to the grindstone. Though we do like to think there are worse jobs than perusing the Dreamiverse for the Weekly Roundup. So we might as well get stuck in!

Shed in the Woods#

Estimated runtime: Looping

Tranquil. Peaceful. Serene. There are many words you could use to describe this creation, but none of them quite capture the overwhelming feeling of calm experienced when viewing this scene. This peaceful woodland features breathtaking toy-like visuals, accompanied by mellow music and some beautiful birdsong to help take the stress out of your day. As the sun beams down over you, let the good vibes in and any negativity out. We assume this is what people mean when they talk about ‘peak cottagecore’. Take some time out of your hectic schedule to just sit in a beautiful forest with your thoughts. Simply sublime. It’s so chill, we might just fall asleep right here…

Brawny Barnacle Bros#

by Jimmy_Cultist_

Estimated playtime: 3-4 hours

Y’arrr me hearties! ‘Tis time to walk the plank ye scurvy landlubbers! Woah, sorry, not quite sure what got into us there. Perhaps it has something to do with Jimmy_Cultist_'s latest release. This pirate-themed romp features an engaging narrative, open-world voyaging, and a fully-fledged combat system. It’s not a stretch to say that this is one of the most gorgeous creations out there in the Dreamiverse, with a huge, cornflower-blue sea to explore, and tonnes of uncharted islands to add to the map. But it’s not just all about exploration! There’s also a healthy dose of action, with a fast-paced fighting system that adds to the booty-plundering pandemonium. Plus, you can take some time out of all the action to just wander around your boat talking to your crew. The writing has all the usual sparkle, humour and puns you'd expect from a Jimmy_Cultist_ joint; having to remind your briny brother to bathe is a particular highlight, and also a timely reminder for us to do the same. Look: it's been a long week in the sun here in the UK, alright?

That'll Do#

by inasense48

Estimated runtime: Looping

Two scenes? In one Weekly Roundup? We’ll believe it when pigs fly. The sepia-toned That’ll Do emerged from the Idiom Jam held earlier this year, and is a bit more out there than your usual Dreams 3D artwork. Here we have a heroic WWII-era pilot manoeuvring a biplane through some sort of aerial skirmish. The camera can be manipulated to capture a different view of the action, and whilst you explore the scene, a 1940s radio can be heard in the background, commenting on the action (courtesy of thetriston). It even comes complete with that classic retro radio crackle, so you really feel like you’ve travelled back in time as you watch the plane soar through the clouds. What’s that? The pilot is a pig, you say? Guess you could call him... Ham Solo.

Pressure (Chapter One)#

by greatscott2204

Estimated playtime: 1-2 hours

Ooh, do you feel that? The odd sensation of your ears crackling and popping like a bowl of Rice Krispies? We don’t know about you, but we’re certainly feeling the Pressure (ayyyyyy). [Editor's note: Liam - see me, please.] This creation by greatscott2204 certainly adds a hearty dose of horror to this week’s Roundup. You know when a Dream starts with a big hulking content warning that it’s going to be an intense time, and Pressure certainly delivers in spades, creating a disturbing and creepy atmosphere with some great jump scares. What starts off as a group of adventurous young men searching for a sunken treasure soon devolves into horror shenanigans in a terrifying underwater facility. Almost immediately you’re greeted with a killer robot that wants to give you a big chainsaw-wielding hug. But that’s just the start. Soon you’re being chased by spooky divers and other monstrosities (sounds like our regular weekends, really). Obviously we’ve all been in a situation like this before, but if for some reason you’ve managed to avoid chased around a facility by robo-entities intent on your demise, check out Pressure for a crash course in Dreamiverse horror.

World on Fire II#

by McTheOperator, UseableHamburger, SgtRex7, and CathyMcNuggetz

Estimated playtime: Replayable

The original World on Fire is one of the finest and most popular zombie games in the Dreamiverse, so it was almost a given that it would get a sequel. Clearly inspired by the celebrated Call Of Duty Zombies mode, this high-score-chasing series pits you against wave after wave of undead, providing a wide range of weapons for you to dispatch them with. It also continues the first game’s madcap sense of humour (zombies repping Santa hats, anyone?), with this iteration taking you on an odyssey across time and space, much like a certain alien with a fondness for blue police boxes. Among other locales, you'll visit 1940s Europe and a futuristic space station, with the zombie slaughtering being just as satisfying as it was in the first game. On top of that, the creators have been supporting the game with regular updates. Hey, at least we'll have something good to play when the zombie apocalypse inevitably comes for us all.
