Dreamview Weekly Roundup #62
Ups! Pedimos desculpa pelo incómodo, mas a nossa equipa da Media Molecule está a trabalhar arduamente para traduzir este conteúdo! Volta a tentar mais tarde.
Happy Friday, Dreamview Weekly Roundup likers! Don’t know what all that ‘rain’ chat was about last week - it’s been roasting here in the UK. Sunny as anything. Honestly, you let Jacob write the Weekly Roundup one time and he turns it into some weird film-noir mystery. We don’t deal in flights of fancy here on The Impsider - only cold, hard truths. Or hot, sticky truths, when the weather’s like this.
Some refreshing facts for you now. Five sensational creations made in Dreams await your attention below. There are- what do you mean, this Roundup we wrote was fanciful? What’s fanciful about a prawn sandwich? Okay, fine, this one was a bit strange. Alright, alright: we owe Jacob an apology. Sorry, Jacob.
Cubes of Jumping#
by Cubixphere
Estimated playtime: 1+ hour
Free will! What a silly little concept - at least in videogames, where almost everything is tightly engineered for you by the developer. The winner of the ‘Make A Choice’ jam, Cubes of Jumping does a fabulous job of making fun of this. You might start off simply hopping a pleasantly weighty cube across a series of slightly bigger cubes, but things soon escalate as the Porto creator begins to question your reaction to the rules of the game, fiddle with scoring mechanics and generally insert themselves into places they don’t belong. Challenging and hilariously meta, fans of The Stanley Parable will no doubt love this one. NO DOUBT. Free will, eh? Total myth. For instance, we’ve written these words in such a calculated order that you absolutely will not close this webpage and go do something else NO NO WAIT WHAT ABOUT THE REST OF THE ARTICL-

FEEDING DUCKS#
by ItsMeJuvy
Estimated playtime: 45+ mins
Oh good, you’re still here. Look at the latest game from Triangle Is Sentient creator ItsMeJuvy! We get shades of Stardew Valley and Forager from its pixelated loveliness; indeed, the plucky hero you play as is equipped with just a pickaxe and a dream. Oh, and a duck. The duck is important. The entire affair plays out like a mixture of Harvest Moon and a Tamagotchi toy, as you mine crystals and complete quests for townsfolk while trying to keep your pet duck - and eventually, ducks - safe, fed and happy. We’d be plenty satisfied if FEEDING DUCKS were simply this - but it turns out there’s another, much more sinister truth bubbling beneath the surface of this cosy-seeming farming sim.

Cloud Nibblers#
by kednar
Estimated runtime: Looping
Less of a game, more of a lightly interactive ecosystem, Cloud Nibblers plonks you down in an alien scene and leaves you to work out what the heck is happening. Possess creatures at will, or simply fly around with the free cam, and observe the interactions: long-legged Nim dipping their beaks into misty clouds - and, while they’re distracted, flying manatee-slash-beetles zooming over to suckle microscopic treats from their bonces. Meanwhile, down by the rocks, the humanoid Hum watch on, warily. Stick around long enough, and you’ll see them make daring dashes for resources. It’s a glorious sort of not-game that we haven’t seen much of in Dreams: how wonderful that even simple observation and camera movement can offer such playfulness and intrigue, with the discovery of new and strange delights being the reward.

HYPERSPACE#
by Helekosi
Estimated runtime: 3 mins
Shopping malls are deeply arcane places, designed to sweep you along endless loops of pristine corridors and escalators - and into a giddy frenzy of consumerism. Even smell can play a part in which shops and sights you’re drawn to. Of course, so can music. The latter is a concept that Helekosi - one of the people behind the similarly uncanny, Impy-winning museum The Idyllium - clearly understands intimately, having produced this hypnotic composite of repeating piano, driving synths and ambient spaceport noise for their fictional galleria. Rest assured that, if we knew what strange currency the stores in HYPERSPACE actually accepted, we’d be splashing the cash and sacrificing our first-born quicker than you could say “free samples”.

Super GP Construction Kit#
by ninjuana
Estimated playtime: N/A
Ever wanted to build your very own custom racetrack? Did you then look at your bank account and realise that that was never gonna happen? Oh, so we’re all just out here living the same life, then. Fortunately, there’s a virtual solution to this most relatable of problems - this kit, which allows you to clip together track pieces in almost any configuration you can dream of. Using the starting grid piece, you’ll be able to hook up the handy pre-made Logic to the rest of your creation to get a real playable race going. There’s even a choice of musical accompaniments, and plenty of decorative pieces to help give your very own grand prix some character. Plus - a big yacht! Again, just virtual. But it’s something, isn’t it.
