Dreamview Weekly Roundup #13

Ups! Pedimos desculpa pelo incómodo, mas a nossa equipa da Media Molecule está a trabalhar arduamente para traduzir este conteúdo! Volta a tentar mais tarde.

Is this thing on? Yeah? Good. Those readers still using a paper calendar may notice they’ve inexplicably scribbled enormous exclamation marks all over today’s date, perhaps while in a kind of fugue state. Since absolutely nothing else exciting is allowed to happen on Fridays, that can only mean one thing – it’s Dreamview Weekly Roundup day!

Those of you with a keen eye for vocabulary choices and alarming puns might notice a little change of voice this time. No need to fear (yet). This is the 13th Roundup after all, and out of pure superstition, Jen has decided it might be best to hand off this week’s edition to a hapless Molecule. Who better than the innocent, freshly appointed curator Jacob for the job? Don’t worry, we’ve assured him it’s completely safe. The four-leaf clover protection circle is just for decoration.

What’s that? To provide the fullest protection against the forces of chance, we have to offer five Dreams recommendations as a sacrifice? Lucky us.

by elgaga

There are two types of people in this world: those that love uncovering enigmatic ancient civilizations and those who’d rather build staircases above the clouds. Thankfully, elgaga’s latest game Eidolon caters to both crowds, providing a full-length adventure brimming with environmental puzzles and unexpected building mechanics. The latter half, which centers on confronting Eidolon - a powerful entity - might test the patience of some, its focus being on quickly building fragile towers. Yet the act of constructing impossibly lofty structures in the face of godlike adversity carries mythological heft, ensuring Eidolon’s staying power lingers even through its most obtuse moments.

The Old Lands (Alpha)#

by RadLaddy and Afroman4peace

Most of The Old Lands is spent resting by a campfire. Otherwise shrouded in darkness, it’s that tiny beacon of light that encapsulates the goal of RadLaddy and Afroman4peace’s minimalist survival game. Nestled in an isolated post-apocalyptic forest, players are tasked with maintaining a camp through scavenging, upgrades and resource management. Fans of This War Of Mine may recognise the random contextual events and ticking counters - food, population and morale are all vital supplies - but The Old Lands builds a distinctive atmosphere of its own. Accompanied by a soundtrack featuring musicians across the Dreamiverse, The Old Lands is still in development, but the foundations give us hope that a future classic is inbound.

When did you last catch sight of a clear night sky littered with stars, distant planets and drifting asteroids? It might’ve been days for some - years ago for others. Luckily for us, Planetarium 2.0 bottles the serenity and awe of an infinite nightscape, whilst letting budding astronomers tinker with its meticulous simulation. An array of sliders alter everything from cloud cover, light pollution, satellite density and the precise position of the moon. A particular highlight is the Alienize modifier – crank that up to 100 and watch as the sky sinks into an extraterrestrial green. Furthermore, you can either freeze time and share snapshots of your blissful starry night, or hold down the triggers to fast forward through a captivating day/night cycle.

Do you hear that? That’s the unmistakable sound of the entire universe simultaneously letting out an ‘awwww’ to Happy Song. Yousama87’s debut single in the Dreamiverse lives up to its moniker of sounding nothing less than uplifting. An orchestral arrangement elevates into a glorious crescendo, complete with harp arpeggios and a chirpy clarinet section. All this cheeriness accompanies a criminally charming visual of your own imp swaying to the beat as the seaside tide rolls in. Even the seagulls lurking in the background have the decency to avoid destroying your precious sandcastle. We’ve truly never been happier.

Grab your nearest magnifying glass and take a peek at this fiendish series of brain-teasers perfect for streamers. Upon first glance, these Find the Clock scenes are merely unassuming landscapes, bereft of anything suspicious or hidden. Oh, how naïve of us. Scurrying away somewhere in these labyrinthian pictures is an alarm clock (a remixable asset from the_Timme) and, dear reader, it’s your job to find it. Creators can be as forgiving or as ruthless as they desire, either having the option of revealing the clock, or providing no assistance whatsoever. For anyone who wants to consign their Twitch audience to a purgatory of clock-spotting, there are fewer creations more maddening than this.
