Everyone knows mini-golf! This template gives you the bits to make your own simple version of this classic in Dreams. There’s little to no wiring required - all the logic is contained in just a few elements (mainly the character) and just works. You can really focus on just constructing courses.

The game can be played in 4-player couch co-op, with the players taking turns. It works the same way whether you play with pals or not. Putt the ball by aiming and setting the power level of your putt. The ball uses physics to roll through the scene. The aim is to get to the final hole in as few putts as possible. If your ball goes out of bounds you get to putt again, but that initial shot still counts toward your total.

The elements you’ll find in the Mini-Golf Template: Elements collection are:

  1. Mini-Golf Player-Character contains 4 of the special mini-golf puppets, as the game can be played in 4-player couch co-op. Most of the gameplay logic resides in this element.
  2. Building Blocks are the individual sculptures that Course Sections are constructed from, should you wish to make your own “from scratch”. There are a lot of these - stairs and ramps, pipes, edge pieces, blocks with holes, and so on - so we won’t list them individually.
  3. Course Sections are pre-constructed from the Building Blocks. There are some lanes and corners and so on to piece together. There are also a number of Complex Sections, which are completely ready-to-use; and Final Hole Sections, again ready-to-use.
  4. Obstacles are a staple of mini-golf. There is a simple Jump Wedge, but also three with moving parts - a Water Wheel, a Windmill and a Spinning Gap.
  5. Ball Camera Device is for emitting the ball-following camera as the ball goes past. As long as you point it in the right direction and remember to switch on one of the position switches for defining where it’s emitted from, it just works, no wiring required.
  6. Ball Nudger is for giving the ball a little push should it end up someplace the puppet can’t be teleported to. Just make sure it’s pointed in the right direction and set the level of Force Speed you want and it’s ready to go.
  7. Final Hole & Flag is needed to mark the end of your course and trigger the end of level logic. Each course should have only one of these and it’s the only hole which counts your putts.
  8. Intermediate Hole Flag are for making intermediate holes visible on the course on the way to the final hole. You can have as many of these as you like in a course.
  9. Out of Bounds Water Plane is a large water plane to place under the course. If your ball ends up in here you can putt again, but the shot that got you there is still counted toward your total.
  10. Hole Cap Helper is a simple sculpture which can be added to tricky holes to help the ball go down.
